What started as a simple idea about a month ago transformed into a cultural showpiece exhibiting fashion, music & food. It was surreal to say the least; what the mind believes, it can achieve – Swahili Night launched on 30th July 2022.

A celebration for not only Kenyans but East Africans living in Uganda to experience culture appreciated through food. Over 200 million people speak Kiswahili globally & a good number of Swahili people live in Uganda; our simple thought was to bring home (Swahili culture) closer to them through food, music, and a chance to be around people that appreciated the same heritage.

Guests got to share photo moments at the artistically designed booth on arrival, then stepped into the beautifully decorated Chapter one restaurant where they were greeted with warm smiles & the lingering aroma that blended perfectly courtesy of the artistry of our chef & the kitchen team. The crowd was treated to sumptuous dishes such as Nyama Choma, Samaki wa Nazi, Irio, and more; not forgetting the whole goat that topped it all off.

Legacy Band 256 and the DJ on the day complimented each other amazingly, playing timeless Kenyan tunes from the likes of Nameless & Necessary noise to instant classics from Sauti Sol’s Midnight Train album.

The dream for this event is to be a cultural festival for Africans to celebrate Swahili culture and shall be organized monthly, happening on the last Saturday of each month. The launch was such a marvel and we hope to see you for the next one on the 27th of August 2022.
