Ibanda University

Ibanda University was established in 2013 as a private institution in Western Uganda, receiving interim authority from the National Council for Higher Education that year and a provisional operating licence in 2014. Its motto, "Hard work for Excellence," reflects its mission to produce skilled, intelligent, hardworking, and morally upright citizens equipped with rigorous academic and cultural knowledge.

A Place Where Future Leaders Are Shaped

Ibanda University offers over 50 programmes across certificates, diplomas, bachelor's, and postgraduate levels, from Agriculture and Rural Innovations to Information Technology, Mass Communication, and Public Administration. As Vice Chancellor Prof. Samson James Opolot puts it: "We exist for and within society, using our abundant talents and skills to build capability and create new knowledge for the common good."

Growing Reach

The university now serves over 5,000 enrolled students and counts over 5,000 alumni, having earned accreditation for its graduate studies programme in 2022 and its Industrial Training Directorate in 2023. Ibanda University also partners with UKETA Learning, certifying UKETA's professional courses for Simba Group's wider education network.
