Project 500K: Building Uganda's Next Generation of Skilled Workers

Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world, and one of the biggest challenges facing that generation is the gap between formal education and market-ready skills. Project 500K, launched in 2020, is Simba Group's response: a commitment to equip half a million young Ugandans with practical, employable skills.

More Than Training

Project 500K combines skills training with mentorship and job placement support, recognizing that a certificate alone rarely leads to steady work. Cohorts move through structured programs designed around the skills employers in Simba Group's own sectors, and the wider Ugandan economy, are actually looking for.

Why Youth, Why Now

Dr. Patrick Bitature has long argued that the future of Africa belongs to its youth, and Project 500K is a direct expression of that philosophy. Rather than waiting for institutions to close the skills gap, Simba Group chose to build its own pipeline of training and opportunity.

A Generation Ready to Compete

Every cohort that graduates from Project 500K represents a small shift: one more young Ugandan equipped to innovate, compete, and thrive in a demanding job market. It is one of the most ambitious social investments in Simba Group's history, and one of the most personal to its founder.
