From Protea to Skyz: The Evolution of Simba Group's Hospitality Portfolio
Simba Group's move into hospitality wasn't a single decision, it was a decade-long build-out that started with one hotel and grew into a genuine portfolio.
2007: The First Step
Elgon Terrace Hotel opened in Kololo in November 2007, with 71 luxury rooms and modern conference facilities. It carried a bigger ambition from day one: Simba Group secured the master franchise for Protea Hotels across Uganda and wider East Africa.
2017: A Bolder Statement
A decade later, Skyz Hotel Kampala opened atop the hills of Naguru, a far more architecturally ambitious property with 140 rooms and panoramic views. Where Elgon Terrace Hotel established Simba Group in hospitality, Skyz Hotel Kampala announced it had arrived.
Two Properties, One Standard
Despite their different characters, both hotels share training standards, service philosophy, and a connection to the same Ubuntu-driven culture that runs through the rest of Simba Group. That consistency, more than any single property, is what the Group considers its real hospitality achievement.
